Another Can You Hear It Thing
Every once in a while I’ll hear a song I’ve heard hundreds of times and notice a sound in there that I’ve never noticed before.
Here’s an example of a song you had to have heard (if you haven’t, you better, this is classic stuff). One of the tracks has Jim Morrison whispering the lyrics to the entire song. Not everyone can hear it, though, my husband swears he doesn’t. It’s there, and once you know it, you hear it as clearly as the singing.
You have to listen really well to hear it the first time. Then this song will never sound the same to you again.

It sounds more like echo or a back-up second voice to me. Is that really Morrison whispering?

It’s really him whispering, not an echo.

You are right, I had never noticed it before. Kit, you never fail to impress me. How did you ever notice that?

I had not noticed it until a radio disc jockey said it one time just before he played it. It was shocking because I’d heard that song so many times and never noticed it.
What made me think of it is another song I was listening to a few days ago by Blue October. I’d heard it a bunch of times and suddenly I caught on that there was a whisper in that entire song, just like this one.

I do too, AJ. This song is my favorite of theirs. I especially like the electronic keyboard in here.

I’d pay cold hard cash to see that, Michele.

Leave it to Morrison to do something like this…it’s ghostly, it’s odd-which is why I like it so!

Anita, I read that is exactly the effect he wanted to create with the whisper. You might also be interested that this was the last song he recorded and he died three weeks later.

And people think I’m strange…
Jim was some piece of work alright.

Why do I think you are just posting more sound stuff to torment CFOhoney?

Everyone should be able to hear the whisper. This one is more about listening and focusing than hearing.
