First some music from the Yamettes.
On a musical themed float. Music is a big part of our heritage. And look, it’s not just girls who get to ride in parades down here.
I am almost positive that is my dad in the lower right corner of the above photo.
This was taken during the Vietnam War days. Notice the soldier beside the float.
You might be wondering how these things move around. Let’s back up.
Check out the old tractor.
To give you an idea of how much restoration I did on the above photo, it was torn and very fragile. I puzzled and taped the photo together before scanning. Here is how it looked after scanning:
Not all the photos are in bad shape, just a few. I actually enjoy doing this, it’s relaxing.
More fun stuff tomorrow, and if you missed the the first and second parts of the parade, it’s not too late. Here are the links:

Hi Kitty! All the photos are great but the black and white ones really do stand out. I find that black/white has a timeless quality to it which renders the image into an almost dreamlike state (which makes sense since many people do dream in those colours).

I do like the black and white a lot as well. I have some nicer color ones coming tomorrow.

I love the tractor.

Kitty, you’re doing an amazing job with these pictures. The tractor made me laugh. We were just at my in-laws farm so my son could get in some harvesting. The tractors now have seat belts, and air conditioning, and stereos and GPS units. How DID they ever farm with antiques like the one in the picture?

That tractor rocks!
Thanks Ginny. I bet your son loved riding in a big tractor. Hell, I wouldn’t mind taking a spin in one. Especially with all that new gear. GPS, wow.

The Yamettes? Oh you can’t imagine how much I wish I knew what they were singing!

If I remember right, it was Andrew’s Sisters-like. They were a festival favorite, always drew large crowds.

That tractor is hilarious. LIke steroid hilarious.

I had no idea that tractor would be such a hit.
Tell you what, I had to practically rebuild that grill in Photoshop. LOL. I am damn glad you all are liking it. It certainly makes it worth the time.

Fantastic restoration work. Photoshop is the one thing that stops time for me. Isn’t it fun?
All of your parade photos are delightful.

Thanks Ruth. Yes I love Photoshop, I open it up and stay in until my eyes start stinging. I just got a Graphire wireless pen tablet and it’s like a whole new level of shoop. Oh, and a negative scanner, just got that and I’m finding images I never knew existed.
