Jinx

I think everyone around here knows who I’m pulling for to win the Superbowl this weekend.

I wish I could beat my chest right now and go all hog-wild about my favorite team. But I can’t. Not here, not on Facebook, not on Twitter. Every time I do that, without fail, my team loses.

A couple of weeks ago, just before the last game started, I made a quick trip to the store to pick up a few things. I had on my -bleep-’s jersey and while I was picking up a pack of wood outside the store, a tall man in a Vikings jersey sneered at me as he passed. I’d been quiet all day. Didn’t ask anything about who said what about who would beat whom. Or change any words ending in “o” to “eaux.”

So when the guy sneered at me, I just looked down at the pack of wood until he passed. Had I sneered back at him, I might not have seen that lucky penny sitting on the pack of wood. Had he not been making faces at me, he might have seen the penny, picked it up, and changed the outcome of the game.

Damned right I picked up that penny and all during the game I rubbed it for luck.

Stupid thing, I know it is, but the -bleep-s did win the game.

Speaking of pinching pennies, my (cheap bastard) husband finally bought a new TV in time for the game. When I opened the door for the delivery man yesterday, this is what I saw next door:

Some kid from down the street dropped a book on the floorboard of his car while driving and leaned over to pick it up. After mowing down two brick mailboxes, he learned a car doesn’t drive itself.

Back to the lucky penny. I can’t say whether I still have it or not. Not until after the game.

Goooooooooo SAINTS!

I’m not much of a football fan unless the Saints are doing something. Like winning. When I was growing up, I don’t remember them ever winning a game. They must have won some, but I don’t remember any. We used to call them the “Aints.”

But now they have won every single game this season! They’re undefeated after 13 games. This is so far their best season in the history of the Saints.

And guess who they play tonight? The Dallas Cowboys.

Guess where i live? Near Dallas!

Which means if the game is on at the Christmas party we’re going to tonight, we’d be cheering at all the wrong times. I probably shouldn’t wear my Saints shirt either, right? This is the heart of Cowboy country.

(That’s my Saints shirt I scored in Louisiana, needs ironing)

I’m anticipating war on Facebook between my Texas and Louisiana friends. I gotta go shake things up over there.

Voodoo Jinx Hex

The Saints should have won today. At first I blamed it on the snow. The Saints are used to practicing in a dome. The minute it started snowing, their momentum went kaput.

Maybe it’s not that.

It could be a jinx or a hex. I’m blaming it AJ. Look what she posted today. A damn bear.

Anyway. Congratulations to the Saints for such a great season and thanks for staying in New Orleans.

The Aints Are

I’m not sure why I never liked football. Could be that I had to sit in front of so many games while my parents hogged the tv. Could be that our team, the Saints never won.

I watched today though. And I’m going to watch the next Saints playoff game. I won’t believe my eyes if they get to the Superbowl. I want to see something I’ve never seen before. Something everybody has always said will never ever happen. The Saints winning the Superbowl. There is no better time for this beaten city to get their win.

Today my kids saw two things they never thought they’d see. Me watching football and yelling “Go Bush.” Not that Bush, are you crazy? The guy with “Bush” on his jersey running just like a fiddler crab.

Geaux Saints!
